Are you tired of seeing all those new trucks with all the cool suspensions? Then you need to check out the Chevrolet Truck & Blazer Coil-Over Conversion kit developed by Off Road Ltd. This kit is designed to be a bolt on system, with some minor drilling and grinding required. When installed, the kit will provide 6"-8" of lift to the front end of the vehicle. Included in the standard kit is a Front Axle Saddle System with integrated axle truss, new transmission crossmember, adjustable radius arms to allow for axle position, caster or pinion angle adjustment, upper shock mounts with integrated bumpstops, limiting straps, adjustable track bar and 13" travel coil-over reservoir shocks. Cross-over steering is required, but not included in the kit. The rear lift would have to be accomplished in the traditional manner using blocks, add-a-leafs, replacement springs or our NEW modified wishbone suspension (see below). At this time, the kit fits Chevy/GMC Trucks, Blazers & Suburbans equipped with Dana 44, Corporate 10 Bolt or Dana 60 front axles and utilizing SM465, TH350, TH400 or 700R4 transmissions with either a NP203, 205, 208 or 241 transfercase. If you have any questions regarding this kit, please feel free to email us at orltd@yahoo.com |
GM Full Floating 14-Bolt Rear 4-Link System
The rear 4-link kit was developed to compliment the front coil-over conversion. It is a modified wishbone arm arrangement and utilizes factory rear leaf springs in conjunction with revolver type shackles at both ends of the leaf springs. This combination allows for extended axle articulation without sacrificing towing and weight carrying capacity of the vehicle.
This rear kit, as with the front coil-over conversion, is designed to be a bolt on unit with minor drilling and grinding required. It locates off the existing spring pads and incorporates an over the top axle truss or saddle with all bar link points and lower shock mounts. This conversion system includes the axle saddle, upper shock mounts, lower control arms and upper wishbone, rear shackle hanger and front link mounting brackets with crossover brace. The lower arms are constructed of 1 3/4" x .250 DOM tubing utilizing 1" high strength heim joints at all ends. It is only designed at this time to fit the GM full floating 14-bolt rear axle.
For those retaining the use of the 208 transfer case, an optional slip yoke eliminator kit has been designed to compliment the amount of axle drop achieved with this rear system when used in conjunction with our optional high angle CV driveshaft.
Other optional items include a high angle CV driveshaft either with 3" or 3.5" tubing, emergency brake cables and brackets with necessary common yoke and rear shocks.

Tested in Moab, UT!
This year was the first year that we went to the Jeep Safari in Moab, UT. We had just finished the rear 4-link system and wanted to test everything out (the front had been tested in Moab a couple of years ago). The response from everyone was great! Everyone loved the idea that someone had finally thought about the "oldies"! We even got great response from the "Big" suspension manufactures about the design and articulation of our kit.
We did get some seat time on Saturday with the old girl, and it was amazing. Since this was the first time out there and we didn't know the trails very well, we took it down Metal Masher. The trail ended up being very easy for the truck and two people that had never (ever) been 4-wheeling! We even made it up Mirror Gulch without any problems or damage.
