The
current Off Road Ltd
opened its door in 1978 in a 4400 square foot building in
Arvada, Colorado. The
operation was relocated to a 6900 square foot building in 1986 and then to a
12,000 square foot space
in 1990, both in Aurora,
Colorado. By 1995, Off Road Ltd had out grown its then current
location and was moved to its now present 24,000
square foot location in
Aurora, Colorado. The present building offers a 7600
square foot showroom,
with equal in size each of a warehouse and repair / installation /
fabrication shop.
In 1979, Off Road Ltd was the first to
offer 4WD conversions in the
Denver / Rocky Mountain
region with primary focus on vans. Providing 4WD ambulance conversions
for such companies as Collins Coach.
In 1982, the owner of the company, Jeff
Maxwell, an avid off road race
fanatic, was a part of bringing, what later became known as short course off
road racing and made famous by the late
Mickey Thompson, to the
metro area and out of the fields, so to speak.
Then, in 1991, Off Road Ltd became the
premier shop involved with MTEG when the stadium races came to
Denver
Mile High Stadium for
the next three years. The company was the host for a truck show where the 20
class winners caravanned to the race with VIP access to the race. The truck
show continued on for another nine years as an annual event after the end of
the MTEG and became known as “JUST ANOTHER $#&!?@% TRUCK SHOW”.
Off Road Ltd has been and is involved in
various community and charity events around the Denver Metro area and as far
outside as Kiowa, Colorado. For 14 years Off Road Ltd has
provided the meeting place for one of the
Colorado 4 wheel drive
clubs and in 2003 opened the shop to the group to build that years raffle
Jeep. This year, Off Road Ltd will again provide support for the Kiowa Auto
Shop benefit by providing its Xtreme Whiplash
Monster Truck as an
attraction for the event. A new charity on its list of events this year is
the “A Caretakers Wish Inc.” Wheels for Wishes September Ralley car show and
swap meet and again the Xtreme Whiplash monster truck will be on display,
and some car crushing, for the kids, big and small, to get up close and
personal with it. A new project that Off Road Ltd has become involved with
is the Capt Bruce Hays 59 Apache project - see more about it @

Off Road Ltd was a featured business in Restyling
Magazine, as well as Parts and People both in 2003 (See Below).
As
well as offering accessories, installation and service for all makes and
models of trucks, SUVs and 4WDs and from a large offering of manufacturers,
Off Road Ltd has moved into manufacturing products for the 1973-91
Chevy K5 Blazer. It
now offers the only bolt on front coil-over shock conversion on the market,
along with numerous other products such as a
rear bumper / tire
carrier and interior sport cage.
